Want to Support our Work? Here’s How!

  1. Make a Financial Donation. Your donation will go directly towards helping us to build new homes, make urgent home repairs, and support financial literacy programming. We work with partners to build  homes, which helps eliminate blight, improves property values, increases public safety, and enhances the entire neighborhood. We also work with partners to identify urgent repair needs and find supplies and volunteers needed to help make those repairs. Our goal is to help people remain in their homes by keeping them safe and warm. We also partner with financial institutions to increase access to good financial information so that people can make the best financial decisions for themselves and their families.
  2.  Donate Supplies.  It is important to us to give our volunteers the tools and supplies necessary to accomplish the job and keep them safe. We have created a wishlist on Amazon.com to showcase the supplies we need.  You can purchase directly from our wishlist on Amazon.com or you can shop local (which we prefer).  These and similar products can be found at Spencer’s Hardware, which is a local corporate sponsor of our work. When you spend money at a local business it goes directly back into the local economy, which makes our community stronger!
  3. Volunteer. We could not accomplish our mission without volunteers.   We are always looking for volunteers to help support our work in many different ways.  For example, We are currently looking for volunteers to help count all of the supplies in 100 boxes donated by Spencer’s Hardware in November.  The sooner we identify what we have the sooner we can being to distribute it for urgent home repairs.  We are also planning our first house build in October 2018 in partnership with McDowell County Schools CTE Students who are currently designing a home that will be located near downtown Marion.  We need volunteers with carpentry experience who are willing to donate their time to help with construction.  Click here  to sign up for one of these volunteer opportunities or to be notified of future opportunities.

Another way you can support our work is when you shop on Amazon.com you can support our organization at no additional cost to you.  Amazon Smiles is a feature service that gives back to a specific organization of your choice.   Every time you make a purchase on Amazon, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of your purchase to Marion Community Development Corporation.  To support us, visit AmazonSmile.com and log into your existing Amazon account. Type in Marion CDC, Inc. in the search box to pick our organization. Hit select and every time you sign into Amazon and purchase an item Marion Community Development Corporation will receive a donation. It’s a win-win!
