Our First Home Could Be Yours!

We are happy to announce the completion of Marion CDC's very first affordable housing project! Marion CDC will begin accepting applications on this beautiful new 2 bedroom 2 bath home. We couldn't be more excited! Check back for application packages on August 1, 2020. Qualified applicants must make at or below 80% of the area median income to qualify. Maximum allowable annual income range is $32,550 for a one-person household, 37,200 for a two-person household, $41,850 for a three-person household, or $46,500 for a four-person household. Traditional lending by FDIC insured bank is required. Bank pre-approval not required prior to application submission.

McDowell Board of Realtors Gives Our New Home Curb Appeal!

On May 15, 2020, the McDowell Board of Realtors spent the morning planting flowers and spreading mulch at our newly completed affordable housing project. The Board selected our organization for their annual community service project. Materials for the project were provided by Spencer's Hardware, P&R Produce, and other local businesses were used on the project. Stay tuned for more details on this home.

OnTrack’s Money Management Classes Coming to Old Fort

Our friends at OnTrack WNC are coming to Old Fort with a free, two-part personal finance class. It is possible to manage your money wisely! This very popular series from OnTrack will teach participants how to: Set financial goals, develop realistic budgets, track and reduce spending, save money, understand and build credit, and manage debt. Free Seminar: Modern Issues in Fair Housing

Phillip Jordan from the NC Human Relations Commission/Civil Rights Division will present a free community seminar: “Reasonable Accommodations, Modifications, and Modern Issues in Fair Housing”. Participants will learn about the NC Fair Housing Act and equal housing opportunities, plus legal 'hot topics' such as minimum housing standards and accommodating emotional support animals. Mr Jordan is a civil rights professional with extensive experience investigating discrimination cases and reviewing housing policies and practices, as well as leading Fair Housing seminars in cities and towns all over the state. Urgent Home Repair Materials & Supplies

Marion CDC is excited to announce our summer 2018 pilot project to distribute materials & supplies for urgent home repairs in the City of Marion. Thanks to donations from Spencer’s Hardware, we currently have a large selection of home repair supplies to contribute to urgent home repair projects city-wide. This summer, Marion CDC will be partnering with service agencies in Marion to make sure these supplies get to the homes where they are needed most! If your agency would like to participate, please download the required forms below, and return everything to us by July 15th.
